Customizing the WordPress upload folder in two easy steps
Since v3.5 the WordPress dashboard does not allow to easily change the upload folder, an option that on previous versions was included in the Settings > Media panel.
While it is possible to specify a directory by editing the wp-config.php file or by adding some code to the functions.php file, there is an easier way to do it.
- First, download and install the Upload Url and Path Enabler plugin, which restores the upload path and url setting fields in the Settings > Media panel.
- Then, specify the desired path and url in the form fields.
- Lastly, you can disable (and delete) the plugin, as once the fields are not empty, WordPress will continue to show them.
